About Us
Lotus Lake Discovery Center builds caring communities through outdoor experiential and environmental education. Our programs foster and encourage personal growth, communication, cooperation, problem solving, care and respect for others, and discovery of the natural world.

Much to our excitement flurries are flying and winter is here. We are preparing for winter programs, getting snow shovels ready for quinzhee building, snowshoes out for tracking, ice harvesting equipment ready for action, and the huskies are getting their winter coats on for warmth. Our winter programs are a wonderful oppurtunity to get kids out and enjoying themselves in this season that lasts so long in Vermont. Sign up soon and we'll plan a program that's right for you!

With more than 300 acres of diverse habitat surrounding an 18 acre lake, "Lotus Lake" (called Cutter Pond on Vermont maps) is one of the headwaters of the Lake Champlain watershed. The land supports hiking trails, playing fields, a low-ropes course, lean-to's, a recreation barn, and a winterized meeting room.

This 7th generation property was purchased as a dairy farm in the 1830's by the Martin family. Lotus Lake Day Camp opened in 1952, and continues to serve families each summer. Lotus Lake Discovery Center was established in 1994 and became Vermont Outdoor Discovery Center in 2003 as a non-profit organization. Programs are offered during the fall, winter and spring at Vermont Outdoor Discovery Center.
